TAHCI collaborate with different institutions and responsible authorities to identify potential heritage site at risk and site which requires immediate attention. We also collaborate to identify sites that requires valorization for tourism development in Africa.
TAHCI promotes the conservation of cultural heritage in Africa. we recognize that it is our common responsibility to safeguard cultural heritage for the future generations and hand them on in the full richness of their authenticity (in the Vernice Charter, 1964). We also recognize that the impairment to any cultural heritage belonging to any people whatsoever means damage to the cultural heritage of all mankind, since every cultural heritage are a contribution the expression of the world's cultural diversity.
TAHCI promotes the development of innovative educational contents and programs for enhancing the capacities of heritage professional and institutions. The need to enhance capacities of African experts in heritage management and conservation is urgent. The World Heritage Capacity Building Strategy has acknowledged that States Parties to the World Heritage Convention often work closely with national training institutions and universities to carry out their capacity-building functions (Decision 35 COM 9B). TAHCI promotes the development of effective Capacity-building measures, including assistance for preparing the nomination of properties to the World Heritage List, for the understanding and implementation of the World Heritage Convention and related instruments.
TAHCI recognizes awareness raising as pivotal to the successful implementation of any heritage conservation attempt. We are dedicated to raising awareness for the conservation and restoration at all levels. We provide technical assistance through sharing workshops, conferences and training opportunities to raise awareness about UNESCO culture Conventions. In this regard, we coordinate communication with donors / partners / investors for improved coordination of activities/strategies. We also promote dialogue between national/local authorities and civil society on the management of cultural heritage properties. In addition, this website offers comprehensive information on international events and training opportunities in the field of conservation-restoration.
TAHCI team includes conservators, scientists, archaeologists, site managers, archivists, and researchers which helps us deliver our strategic research on the conservation of cultural heritage everywhere in Africa. We also coordinate with cultural conservation institutions, coordinates the knowledge sharing, and creates stimulating and collaborative environments where researchers can meet.
TAHCI team advocates for the conservation of cultural heritage in Africa and promote the role of indigenous communities in heritage conservation. By collaborating with the different responsible heritage institution, we contribute the advocacy for the conservation and awareness raising about cultural heritage. We also have a team which responds to the emergency cases of heritage at risk in different contexts in Africa.
