Developing Yearly ‘African Heritage at Risk Report

The main idea of the proposed yearly report is raise awareness about African Heritage at risk so as to rescue these heritage places from imminent threats through raising media awareness and fostering international cooperation and assistance.  This is to ensure that Africa’s cultural heritage will be safely transmitted to the next generation.

This is in line with the Resolution 26 of the 16th General Assembly of ICOMOS in October 2008 in Quebec, resolved to “request the Heritage at Risk Series to be continued and that actions be taken to enhance its communication and impact so as to support protection and conservation of the cultural heritage world-wide and to better serve ICOMOS and its Committees to define priorities and strategic goals”.  TACHI aims to contribute to the yearly heritage at risk from the point of view of African Heritage.

The inaugural African Heritage at Risk Report 2021–2022 will consists of contributions from 10 countries, among them 3 reports are from national committees of ICOMOS, and the other reports are by individual experts from different expertise, in the different African country.
