Professor Emeritus Adeyemi is the founding Chairman of The African Heritage Conservation Initiative (TAHCI). Prof. Adeyemi is the first professor of architecture in Nigeria and pioneer academic to attain professorship in architecture in Sub-Saharan Africa. He earned Master of Science in Architecture from Columbia University in New York, Master of Urban Planning from New York University and Doctoral degree in Architecture from the New York University. He was the former Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology in Akure, Nigeria and a former visiting professor at the University of Sheffield. He was a former Chair holder in several Universities in Nigeria. Prof. Adeyemi is a founding member of several professional bodies including Nigerian Institute of Architects, African Union of Architects and American Institute of Planners. In 2004, he came out of retirement to become the dean of College of Science and Technology and distinguished professor in Covenant University.
